About Illinois Wesleyan University

Illinois Wesleyan University is an independent undergraduate university located in Bloomington, which is the county seat of McLean County, situated in the US state of Illinois, having a population estimated at a number of nearly 75 000 inhabitants, during the 2006 census.

Illinois Wesleyan University was established in 1850 and it has the mission to foster the traditional liberal arts of creativity, character, and knowledge, its motto being `Scientia et Sapientia`, which is Latin for `Knowledge and Wisdom`.

Illinois Wesleyan comprises 17 academic departments, through which it offers its students 50 majors and 476 courses.

Athletics

The athletic teams at Illinois Wesleyan University are known as the Titans and they compete in NCAA's Division III, in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). They've won DIII National Championships in men's basketball(1997) and baseball (2010), as well as in women's indoor track & field (2008), and outdoor track & field (2008, 2010).
